Optional Summoner Spells

Exhaust

Exhaust

Solid choice in most of the games. Helps against assassins, divers and melee overall. It also lowers your healing output as you do not take Heal. Solid choice overall.

Ignite

Ignite

Offensive option, improves your damage, gives you additional cooldown to use in fights, but reduces your healing output.

Ghost

Ghost

Improves mobility. You can chase, position and flee better. Reduces your healing output, but makes you more agile in fights.

How it works

  1. You're a healer, Harry.
  2. Even though Akshan is not typical support, you are gonna support your team very effectively. With heals, shields and buffs:
    • Heal summoner spell.
    • Guardian rune.
    • Redemption, Locket of the Iron Solari and Moonstone Renewer and other items.
    • Diadem of Songs for some sweet and constant healing.

Playstyle

  1. 🛡️

Play safe, stay in the back and play like support, so you can stay and heal more.

  2. 💖

Use Redemption, Locket, and Heal on cooldown for healing. Focus on healing and shielding to keep allies alive.

  3. ⚔️

Sometimes, you can go in and play more aggressively when the opportunity is right.

How to play

Support Akshan

Utility

  1. Enemies won’t check your items right away. Most will assume you’re playing Akshan ADC, so you’ll get focused in fights - use that for your advantage - bait cooldowns or pull pressure off your team.
  2. You can use Avengerang (Q) to reveal enemies and scout bushes.
  3. Your Going Rogue (W) is one of the most powerful skills in the game. If an ally dies, you can revive them by taking down their killer. Always try to mark as many enemies as possible during fights, so your team has the chance to be resurrected.
  4. You can use Comeuppance (R) to reveal enemy to assist your allies (for example, your ally is chasing him and enemy is about to get into bush).

Damage

  1. Even though you are not building damage, you still have plenty!
    • Your AA is double shot, thanks to Dirty Fighting (Passive).
    • Your passive gives you a three-hit burst - after two hits, the third attack deals bonus damage and grants you a shield, again, thanks Dirty Fighting (Passive).
    • Your Comeuppance (R) is execute ability, which deals damage based on enemy's missing health. Very good tool for finishing off fleeing enemies.

Going Rogue (W)

  1. Your Going Rogue (W) is great for mind games. If they think you’re ADC, they’ll play super careful once you go invisible - you can use that to stop aggressive plays, prevent or delay push and many more.

Heroic Swing (E)

  1. Use your Heroic Swing (E) to swing around turrets in circles. It’s flashy, distracting, and can tilt enemies while drawing their attention.
  1. This is an off-meta and very fun build that works on ANY champion - even those without healing or shielding abilities!
  2. Your job is to stay alive and provide constant healing, shielding, and buffs to your team through items and summoner spells.
  3. Play safe and stay in the back. The longer you survive, the more you can heal your teammates.

Items

  1. Your first rush is Redemption.
  2. Your second rush can be Locket of the Iron Solari (vs AoE burst) or Moonstone Renewer (for sustained healing).
  3. Rush Locket #2 if your team is already doing teamfights or when enemy team has champions with super AoE damage. Otherwise, get Moonstone Renewer #2.
  4. If you manage to stack if quite fast, you can rush Diadem of Songs as well.
  5. Echoes of Helia is a strong option because you can proc it consistently with your support abilities and runes. However it encourages you to play aggressive to stack it and with this build, you really want to stay behind and play passive. Be careful.
  6. Knight's Vow is surprisingly strong if you have a carry/strong bruiser/strong tank. Stick with them and support them specifically.

Summoner Spell

  1. Try to use summoner spell Heal on cooldown, especially when 2+ allies are nearby. With Moonstone Renewer, you want to heal multiple people for maximum value.

Late game

  1. Later in the game (6 items), you can sell boots for a sixth support item to maximize your healing output.

Buffing your team

  1. Ardent Censer is worth it if you have auto attackers on your team (ADCs, auto-attack bruisers). It will trigger often enough to be good buy.
  2. Staff of Flowing Water is great if you have AP champions on your team. You'll be proccing it frequently with your support abilities.
  3. Cryptbloom is interesting if you want to go full healing. Get it as #4+ item.

Runes

  1. Guardian is your most important rune. It provides massive shielding, but remember: you need to be close to your allies to proc it.
    • You can also manipulate it - for example, you can stick to one ally, or avoid some spells that's gonna only waste it.
  2. Another important rule is Cosmic Insight. It is crucial because it reduces cooldowns for your active items and Heal summoner spell:
    • Redemption and Locket of the Iron Solari - 81.92 sec cooldown (down from 90 sec).
    • Shurelya's Battlesong - 68.12 sec cooldown (down from 75 sec).
    • Heal summoner spell gets reduced cooldown too!

Redemption

  1. Try to use Redemption on cooldown when your allies are missing health. It's best used when they are grouped together.
  2. If you already have Moonstone Renewer, wait (or ping) until allies group before using Redemption, so you can heal everyone at once.
  3. You CAN use Redemption for damage, but generally it's not worth it. Keep it to heal your team!
  4. Be careful when using Redemption while dead and about to respawn. The camera will snap to your position, and you might accidentally cast it in the spawn pool. Watch out for bad timing!

Tips and Tricks

Riot

  1. Raising an eyebrow in the face of danger, Akshan fights evil with dashing charisma, righteous vengeance, and a conspicuous lack of shirts. He is highly skilled in the art of stealth combat, able to evade the eyes of his enemies and reappear when they least expect him. With a keen sense of justice and a legendary death-reversing weapon, he rights the wrongs of Runeterra's many scoundrels while living by his own moral code: “Don't be an ass.”
