How it works

General

  1. You go Full Crit.
  2. You go in and play around Hail of Blades to burst enemies.
  3. You back away and wait for Hail of Blades. Repeat.
  4. This build works best if enemy team has squishy champions. If you are against a lot off-tanks/bruisers, this might not be best build. You can make it work by:
    • You can get Lord Dominik's Regards early (#1-#3 item).
    • If they are stacking HP you can buy Blade of The Ruined King. It's gonna delay your 100% crit, but it's gonna counter them and give you sustained dmg.

How to play

General

  1. This build shines with 100% crit. You will instakill squishes. Until that, it might be challenging to 100-0 anyone. Look for opportunities to go in and score kills. Also focus on farming minions if possible (to scale faster).
  2. Wait for your moment to go for a kill. You have a big burst thanks to Full Crit and Hail of Blades, but you are squishy. And outside of Hail of Blades procs (especially early game) you don't have much damage.

Core items

  1. Your core items: The Collector, Essence Reaver, Infinity Edge.
    • Usually, fourth crit item is Lord Dominik's Regard
  2. You rush either The Collector or Essence Reaver.
    • The Collector is default option, most versatile.
    • Essence Reaver, when you can reliably use its proc.

Spectral Cutlass

  1. Spectral Cutlass can be awesome item for this Full Crit build that lets you make plays, especially early and mid game.
  2. You can get and stick with its subcomponent early - Lifeline. It has the same cooldown. You can test it, if it works against enemy team.
  3. Spectral Cutlass might not be best late game item (depending on the enemy comp). You can sell it and get other item late game.

During game

  1. Snowball / Mark is an essential cooldown for this build. Do not waste it or even wait to hit the enemy at point-blank range to ensure hit (so you follow them, if they Flash).
  2. Enemy team might not check your items right away, you could use that for your advantage to nuke unsuspected enemy.
  3. After they checked your items and noticed that you have damage and are squishy, they are going to target you in fights. Be careful, after early game probably you need to modify your playstyle and stay back and wait for a good moment to join fights.

Gameplay

  1. If they have tons of CC, get Mercury's Treads, Edge of Night or even Mercurial Scimitar to counter that.
  2. If you are not doing well, or an enemy team is slightly ahead, you can adapt and buy tank items. Worst case scenario, you can sell everything late game and 'respec' into full tank.
  3. Spectral Cutlass trick - use Spectral Cutlass, go in, then hit Mark in point blank range, Spectral Cutlass out and go in with Mark again!

Tips and Tricks

Champion

General

  1. You have great engaging tools - Bandage Toss (Q) and Curse of the Sad Mummy (R)! Always play with the team and do not be shy and do not wait for 'special moment'!
  2. If enemy is juking left and right, just walk close to them (or Q to something close to them) and R! And lock them with your Q later.

Cursed Touch (Passive)

  1. Remember to auto attack to apply your Cursed Touch (Passive), enemy takes 10% true damage from all magic damage they take, including yours as well as your allies!
  2. You can auto attack multiple enemies and your Despair (W) refreshes it. This way you can maintain multiple debuffs at the same time.
  3. You can apply your Cursed Touch (Passive) AoE thanks to your Curse of the Sad Mummy (R) as well.

Bandage Toss (Q)

  1. You can use Bandage Toss (Q) to escape. Just Q to a minion or enemy champion that is far away.
  2. Q through dying minions - time your Bandage Toss (Q) to pass through a minion as it dies to surprise enemies hiding behind wave.
  3. Your will still dash to the enemy, if your Q is blocked by Spell Shield. Be careful!
  4. To elevate your Amumumu gameplay and land easier Qs - look other direction and pretend going somewhere else, this way you can land more and easier Qs!
  5. Bandage Toss (Q) uses position at the end of the cast time. Meaning you can walk back and it still uses original location. This can distract enemies and catch them off guard, thinking you are not going to hit it (beucase you moved further away).
  6. You can buffer Q during CC - if rooted or stunned, Q will cast immediately when CC ends if pressed during lockout

Despair (W)

  1. You can activate Despair (W) during Bandage Toss (Q) animation.

Curse of the Sad Mummy (R)

  1. Before big fights, position in fog of war (outside of view of enemy team) or simply in bushes. Enemies won't respect your engage range if they don't see you.
  2. Against spell shields, Bandage Toss (Q) first to pop shield, then Curse of the Sad Mummy (R) immediately after.
  3. Curse of the Sad Mummy (R) stops dashes mid-animation and prevents abilities during stun. You can use it to interrupt enemy channeled ults.

Amumu Combos

  1. Simple and easy, but excellent combo that wins fights is: Bandage Toss (Q) or Mark (Snowball) to a minion + Flash into an enemy team + use Curse of the Sad Mummy (R).
  2. You can Curse of the Sad Mummy (R) then Flash into enemy team for suprise.
  3. You can even Curse of the Sad Mummy (R) + Tantrum (E) then Flash into enemy team for burst and surprise.

Riot

  1. Amumu is highly dependent on teammates, so try laning with your friends for maximum effectiveness.
  2. Cooldown Reduction on Amumu is very strong, but it's often difficult to itemize for it. Grab the Golem buff whenever possible to gain Cooldown Reduction without sacrificing stats.
  3. Despair is very effective against other tanks, so make sure you're in range of opponents with the highest Health.
