TLDR

Imperial Mandate Aurelion Sol Runes

Optional Summoner Spells
Mark
Mark (Snowball) for a go-in tool if you want to be more aggressive and make picks.
Exhaust
Defensive option. Exhaust for peeling against enemy divers and assassins and protecting your carries.
Ignite
Offensive option if you are feeling spicy. Grievous Wounds + some damage. Good in early fights and you can score some kills, but reduces your going-in potential. Especially later.
Optional Runes
Grasp of the Undying
Grasp of the Undying is a solid alternative. You become more tanky over time as your HP grows, you get some sustain and you get some damage as well.
Guardian
Guardian is a more passive, support-oriented alternative. Instead of boosting your own tankiness, you protect nearby allies with a shield when they take damage - great if you're playing closer to a support role or prefer a more reactive, less aggressive playstyle. You won't be as tanky as you would be with other runes.
Demolish
If you are into taking objectives, you can consider taking Demolish rune. Usually it is worth it and lets you push turrets quicker. Utility slash team oriented option.
How it works
- You play as a slow tank, disrupting fights and soaking damage.
- Thanks to slow + Font of Life, you heal allies. You can even get support items.
- Core items: Rylai's Crystal Scepter + Imperial Mandate. If you are behind and the game not go perfectly, skip Imperial Mandate and go full tank.
Champion
- Imperial Mandate Aurelion Sol is a very different take on regular Aurelion Sol AP build. Instead of focusing on abilities, going AP / Magic Pen and casting a lot, you are gonna be relying on auto attacks. Do it!
Enemy perception
- Even though you are playing the Imperial Mandate build, you’re going to attract a lot of attention from the enemy team - especially when using Breath of Light (Q) right in front of them. This can be a really effective way to bait them.
Playstyle
Rush Rylai's Crystal Scepter to apply constant slows with your abilities.
Play as a slow tank, disrupting enemy movements while soaking up damage.
Adapt your items to the game: go offensive with Imperial Mandate or defensive with full MR/Armor.

Imperial Mandate Aurelion Sol
Stacking
- Even when playing off-meta builds like Imperial Mandate Aurelion Sol, it's extremely important to farm Cosmic Creator (Passive). The permanent ability buffs matter in the long run (i.e. % max HP damage on Breath of Light (Q) or sweet execute on Singularity (E)).
Getting started
- Your all abilities slow and heal your allies and giving them Imperial Mandate buff.
- Guardian's Horn is a surprisingly good item for its price. You can keep it for very long time (or even have it as 6th item).
Items
- You can go some support items as well in some cases, like Ardent Censer if you got a lot of auto attackers on your team.
Adapting
- Enemy team heavy on AP? Buy MR. They are heavy on AD? Buy Armor. You need some damage? Well buy that.
Runes
- Be careful to not waste Aftershock. Try timing it and keeping it for going in.
Tips and Tricks
Champion
- The easiest way of getting stacks is using Singularity (E) in minions and having them die during it (you don't need to kill them). Ask your team to help you!
Skill Order
- Breath of Light
Q
- Astral Flight
W
- Singularity
E
- Falling Star / The Skies Descend
