Optional Summoner Spells

Ghost summoner spell

Ghost

Ghost for extra mobility and chasing - great for staying on top of enemies and farming more Heartsteel procs.

Exhaust summoner spell

Exhaust

Defensive option. Exhaust for peeling against enemy divers and assassins and protecting your carries.

Ignite summoner spell

Ignite

Offensive option if you are feeling spicy. Grievous Wounds + some damage. Good in early fights and you can score some kills, but reduces your going-in potential. Especially later.

Looking for another tank build? Check these:

How it works

General

  1. You play Heartsteel Blitzcrank.
  2. You rush Heartsteel #1 and stack as much HP as possible.
  3. You build items that scale and benefit from HP, then add Armor and MR depending on the enemy team.

Playstyle

  1. Rush Heartsteel and get tons of HP. 💪
  2. Auto attack everything to get stacks - your HP depends on it. ⚔️
  3. Adapt your tank items to what the enemy team is throwing at you. 🎯

How to play

General

Getting started

  1. You rush Heartsteel #1 unless it is going to be hard to proc it - they are all ranged and just poke you. Then you start slow with Guardian's Horn instead.
  2. Guardian's Horn is a surprisingly good item for its price. You can keep it for a very long time (or even have it as 6th item).

Item Order

  1. Item Order after Heartsteel is flexible. You need to see what you need in particular game:
    • Get Overlord's Bloodmail for more damage and AD.
    • Get Warmog's Armor as anti-poke item (helps you stay in lane) and for some sweet HP.
    • Get Unending Despair, if there are prolonged fights in which you can stay near enemies (or enemies near you). The items gets better, the more HP you get.
    • Get various Armor and/or MR items to counter enemy team.
    • Get Titanic Hydra for more fun, more damage and some survivability.

During fights

  1. Your main damage and power comes from auto attacks - Grasp of the Undying and Heartsteel.
  2. This is auto attack oriented Blitzcrank build, so do it! Especially if running with Titanic Hydra or Sundered Sky.
  3. You can prioritize switching between champions in the fight, just to farm more Heartsteel procs.
  4. Remember to consume your Heartsteel procs!

Adapting

  1. You need to adapt your items to the game. Enemy team heavy on AP? Buy MR. They heavy on AD? Buy Armor. You need some damage? Well buy that.
  2. Sundered Sky is very good damage item for this build (as #2-#4 depending on the game). It scales off your HP. It gives damage and pretty good sustain in fights. Remember to switch targets to maximize the effect!
  3. You can use Bandlepipes to give your whole team an attack speed boost whenever you CC enemies. Great synergy with auto attackers.

Runes

  1. Second Wind scales off with your HP, so it is going to be powerful sustain rune. You can use it by purposefully triggering it by letting enemies poke you a little or walking over some harmful spells.
  2. Triumph is better (heal + gold), but if you want to have easier time with your mana, go Presence of the Mind.
  3. Remember to consume your Grasp of the Undying procs!

Items

  1. Just remember that using Rocket Grab (Q) from afar is gonna proc your Fimbulwinter shields, so sometimes it might be a waste (but grabbing right enemy might outweigh it).

Tips and Tricks

Champion

Hook Combos

  1. To make sure that you chain CC after pulling somebody with Q, use R before E (if they some good ways of getting out) - Q + R + E
  2. If enemy has some kind of ability / item / Flash that can counter your Rocket Grab (Q) and they are waiting for your Q animation, use Static Field (R) first to silence them.
  3. General combo is to Q + auto + E + auto + R. More autos you land, bigger damage you land thanks to Static Field (R) Passive (on-hit proc explosion).

Rocket Grab (Q)

  1. Sometimes it is better to hold on your Rocket Grab (Q), rather than using it if you are not sure if you hit it. It puts pressure on the enemy, as they need to take into account your Q.
  2. If enemy is juking you left and right, just get close to him with your Overdrive (W), then punch him with Power Fist (E) and then finally use Rocket Grab (Q) to catch him.
  3. Hook through dying minions - time your Q to pass through a minion as it dies to surprise enemies hiding behind wave.
  4. Be careful who you pull with Rocket Grab (Q)! As sometimes you might lose fight just by yourself.

Power Fist (E)

  1. Power Fist (E) resets auto attack. Use it for your advantage when fighting in melee range and when pushing turrets.

Static Field (R)

  1. Instead of using Static Field (R) right away, after you catch somebody, punch them few times (AA + E + AA) before using R. This way you will do more damage, thanks to your R Passive (on-hit proc explosion).
  2. Static Field (R) destroys shields, use it for your advantage and hold your R when enemy champions get big shields.

Riot

  1. The 1-2-3 combo of Rocket Grab, Power Fist, and Static Field can devastate an individual opponent.
  2. Using Blitzcrank's grab to pull an enemy into your tower range followed by a Power Fist will allow the tower to get several hits on them.
