Optional Summoner Spells

Exhaust

Exhaust

Solid choice in most of the games. Helps against assassins, divers and melee overall. It also lowers your healing output as you do not take Heal. Solid choice overall.

Ignite

Ignite

Offensive option, improves your damage, gives you additional cooldown to use in fights, but reduces your healing output.

Ghost

Ghost

Improves mobility. You can chase, position and flee better. Reduces your healing output, but makes you more agile in fights.

Looking for another support build? Check this:

How it works

  1. You rush Echoes of Helia.
  2. You play aggressively, dealing damage to get Echoes of Helia stacks and spend them as soon as you can.
  3. More damage means more Helia procs, which means more healing. Raw damage items outperform heal and shield power support items.

Champion

  1. Your Demacian Standard (E) triggers Summon Aery shields!
  2. You can help your team kill tanky champions by using Dragon Strike (Q) on them. It reduces target's armor!

Playstyle

  1. ⚔️

Play aggressively, deal damage and poke to stack Echoes of Helia.

  2. 💫

Trigger Helia as often as possible with abilities, runes, summoners and items.

  3. 🤝

Support allies while dealing damage to enemies.

How to play

Helia Jarvan IV

  1. You can have 100% uptime on Demacian Standard (E) (with some Ability Haste), meaning you will be shielding/healing/buffing your team all the time.
  2. Cast Demacian Standard (E) near your team if you want shield/heal/buff them.
  3. Demacian Standard (E) gives vision, so you can scout bushes.
  4. Play safe, like support for the most part and stay back. Look for opportunities to catch/engage enemies, but be careful, because you are squishy with this build.
  5. You can play Aery ping pong to maximize uptime. Just come close to whoever got it, to get it back. This way you will maximize the number of shields.
  6. If you want to shield a specific person, just cast E closest to them.
  1. This is an off-meta and very fun build that works on ANY champion with mana - even those without healing or shielding abilities! All thanks to Diadem of Songs + Echoes of Helia combo.
  2. With Diadem of Songs + Echoes of Helia combo, you can continuously heal your team while dealing damage.
  3. Play aggressively, stack Echoes of Helia and heal! More damage = more Helia stacks = more healing.

Core items

  1. Start with Tear of the Goddess and try stacking it ASAP. Get Echoes of Helia #1, then Diadem of Songs #2.
  2. Core order: Echoes of Helia -> Diadem of Songs -> Liandry's Torment. If you are stacking Tear very slowly, get Liandry's before Diadem.
  3. Heal and shield power items and traditional support items are less effective than raw damage - you literally heal more with Helia by dealing damage.

Buffing your team

  1. Ardent Censer is worth it if you have auto attackers on your team (ADCs, auto-attack bruisers). It will trigger often enough to be good buy.
  2. Bandlepipes is a good item that gives MS and buffs your allies Attack Speed when you slow/immobilize enemies. Good for your auto attackers.
  3. Staff of Flowing Water is great if you have AP champions on your team. You'll be proccing it frequently with your support abilities.

Damage items

  1. Once you have your core items, look for Ability Haste and for raw damage.

Runes

  1. Alternatively you can take Summon Aery rune. On enchanters, Aery's shield directly procs Helia. On non-enchanters, it contributes to damage output to stack Helia faster.

Adaptation

  1. Your team needs to engage or position? Get items like Shurelya's Battlesong or Trailblazer.
  2. Your team getting poked to death? Consider getting Redemption and/or Locket of the Iron Solari.
  3. If you cannot manage to stay alive - get Kaenic Rookern or Warmog's Armor (caution: needs enough HP!).
  4. Remember to counter the enemy team. If they have lots of healing, get Executioner's Calling early.

Tips and Tricks

Champion

Martial Cadence
Martial Cadence (Passive)

  1. Switch targets often in fights to fully use your Martial Cadence (Passive) for more damage!

Dragon Strike
Dragon Strike (Q)

  1. Remember that your Dragon Strike (Q) reduces enemy armor. Shred tanks so your team can melt them faster.
  2. With enough Ability Haste, you can Q to same Demacian Standard (E) twice!

Demacian Standard
Demacian Standard (E)

  1. You can use Demacian Standard (E) for brush control.
  2. Remember that Demacian Standard (E) gives Attack Speed buff for your allies, it is very important when pushing turrets or in teamfight (when you can't participate)
  3. Jarvan can achieve 100% kill participation simply by placing Demacian Standard (E), thanks to its AoE aura for allies that grants assist even without any damage or CC.

Cataclysm
Cataclysm (R)

  1. You can Cataclysm (R) enemies and then run away to your team with Demacian Standard (E) + Dragon Strike (Q). This way you can engage for your team, pin enemies and be safe.

Combos

  1. Combo #1: Q + E + Flash. Just Q + E and during the last frames of animation, you can Flash into enemy knocking them up.
  2. Combo #2: If you have enough Ability Haste, you can put E, wait and Q to it and cast second E hitting your target. This is especially cool with AP builds. So you can cast E while sliding to existing E.

Riot

  1. You can use the Dragon Strike / Demacian Standard combo to get out of your own Cataclysm arenas.
  2. Split your basic attacks on different champions at the beginning of fights to maximize damage.
  3. Use Demacian Standard as a scouting tool when worried about incoming enemies.
