Optional Summoner Spells

Exhaust summoner spell

Exhaust

Defensive option. Exhaust for peeling against enemy divers and assassins and protecting your carries.

Ignite summoner spell

Ignite

Offensive option if you are feeling spicy. Grievous Wounds + some damage. Good in early fights and you can score some kills, but reduces your going-in potential. Especially later.

Ghost summoner spell

Ghost

Ghost for extra mobility - great for chasing down fleeing enemies and ensuring you can land your CC.

How it works

General

  1. The idea of the build is centered around getting frequent, massive shields from Fimbulwinter combined with Sterak's Gage and more.
  2. You act as a disruption tank with surprisingly high survivability.

Playstyle

  1. Stack Tear of the Goddess and rush Fimbulwinter. 🧊
  2. Stay in fights and spam slow/CC to get big shields over and over. 🛡️
  3. Adapt your tank items to what the enemy team is throwing at you. ⚔️

How to play

General

Getting started

  1. Start with Guardian's Horn and Tear of the Goddess. Your early goal is to stack Tear as fast as possible.
  2. Rush Fimbulwinter #1. Once completed and fully stacked, every time you slow/CC an enemy, you will gain a shield.

Items

  1. Sterak's Gage is good counter against burst damage and works nicely with shield tank fantasy. (Note: Protoplasm Harness is another option that might be better in the future, but currently, Sterak's Gage remains superior for this setup).
  2. Spirit Visage heavily amplifies both your healing and shielding, it is core item.

Adapting

  1. After your core items (Fimbulwinter, Sterak's, Kaenic, Spirit Visage), adapt to the enemy team.
  2. If they are heavy on AD, go Armor (Frozen Heart, Randuin's). If they are heavy on AP, buy MR (Force of Nature).

Runes

  1. Be careful to not waste Aftershock. Try timing it and keeping it for going in.
  2. Shield Bash is incredible here because you will constantly have a shield up.
  3. You are all about shields. Golden Aegis (W), Fimbulwinter and Sterak's Gage.

Items

  1. Golden Aegis (W) can trigger Fimbulwinter, so be careful to not waste the proc!

Tips and Tricks

Champion

Martial Cadence (Passive)

  1. Switch targets often in fights to fully use your Martial Cadence (Passive) for more damage!

Dragon Strike (Q)

  1. Remember that your Dragon Strike (Q) reduces enemy armor. Shred tanks so your team can melt them faster.
  2. With enough Ability Haste, you can Q to same Demacian Standard (E) twice!

Demacian Standard (E)

  1. You can use Demacian Standard (E) for brush control.
  2. Remember that Demacian Standard (E) gives Attack Speed buff for your allies, it is very important when pushing turrets or in teamfight (when you can't participate)
  3. Jarvan can achieve 100% kill participation simply by placing Demacian Standard (E), thanks to its AoE aura for allies that grants assist even without any damage or CC.

Cataclysm (R)

  1. You can Cataclysm (R) enemies and then run away to your team with Demacian Standard (E) + Dragon Strike (Q). This way you can engage for your team, pin enemies and be safe.

Combos

  1. Combo #1: Q + E + Flash. Just Q + E and during the last frames of animation, you can Flash into enemy knocking them up.
  2. Combo #2: If you have enough Ability Haste, you can put E, wait and Q to it and cast second E hitting your target. This is especially cool with AP builds. So you can cast E while sliding to existing E.

Riot

  1. You can use the Dragon Strike / Demacian Standard combo to get out of your own Cataclysm arenas.
  2. Split your basic attacks on different champions at the beginning of fights to maximize damage.
  3. Use Demacian Standard as a scouting tool when worried about incoming enemies.
