How it works

General

  1. You play around First Strike to farm gold and deal extra damage.
  2. You build AD and Crit items.

Champion

  1. Crit is used to increase the damage of the 3 auto attacks from empowered Shield Vault (W).
  2. Infinity Edge doesn't increase Comet Spear (Q) damage, but you rely on auto attacks from empowered W for your main damage.
  3. You farm gold with First Strike. Early game, you can farm with empowered Comet Spear (Q) before transitioning to crit.
  4. Empowered Q does more damage before Infinity Edge (when you have empowered W). So use this to make gold with First Strike, then go crit.

How to play

General

  1. Your main damage comes from AD, Crit items and auto attacking. You can build 50-100% crit depending on the game - adapt based on what you need (damage, survivability, countering tanks, etc.).
  2. You farm gold with First Strike. Early game, you can farm with your abilities to earn gold and scale faster.

Items

  1. Core items are The Collector, Infinity Edge, and Hubris. For the last items, you can choose anything based on the game.
  2. If they have tons of CC, get Mercury's Treads, Edge of Night or even Mercurial Scimitar to counter that.

Counter tanks

  1. If you are against a lot of tanks/bruisers, you can make it work by:
    • You can get Lord Dominik's Regards early (#1-#3 item).
    • If they are stacking HP you can buy Blade of The Ruined King. You don't need 100% crit - adapt your build to the game situation.

Champion

  1. Early game: Farm gold with First Strike using empowered Comet Spear (Q). Empowered Q does more damage before you get Infinity Edge (with IE, you just farm with empowered Shield Vault (W)), so use this to make gold with First Strike.
  2. Your main damage comes from empowered W's 3 auto attacks with crit. Infinity Edge doesn't increase Q damage, but you rely on auto attacks from empowered W.
  3. After getting Infinity Edge, transition to using empowered W for the crit-enhanced auto attacks. Your empowered Q was stronger early, but now your empowered W with crit is your main damage source.

Combos

  1. Combo before Infinity Edge: Get four stacks on your Mortal Will (Passive), then do Shield Vault (W) > Comet Spear (Q) > Aegis Assault (E) > walk off.
  2. Combos after Infinity Edge: Get full stack passive, then do either Shield Vault (W) > empowered AA > Comet Spear (Q) > Aegis Assault (E), or Shield Vault (W) > empowered AA > AA > Aegis Assault (E) > Comet Spear (Q).

Tips and Tricks

Champion

  1. You can dodge a lot of skillshots with Aegis Assault (E). Even global ultimates. Just make sure you are facing the right direction!
  2. Plan combos around empowered abilities (after 5 spells/autos): empowered Shield Vault (W) for auto attack burst, empowered Comet Spear (Q) for execute or poke, empowered Aegis Assault (E) for Armor/MR and being tanky.

Riot

  1. Mortal Will activates after 5 spells or basic attacks - plan your way through fights to allow you to activate it more than once.
  2. Whittle the enemy down with Comet Spears before you jump in.
  3. If an enemy is going to get out of range of your Aegis Assault, you can recast the spell to immediately fire the shield slam.
