TLDR

Support Tahm Kench Runes

Optional Summoner Spells
Heal
Good option if you want extra healing and sustain for your team. Provides movement speed burst and can be used in clutch situations.
Exhaust
Defensive option. Exhaust for more peel and protection against enemy divers and assassins.
Ignite
Offensive option and fun button to press. Reduces your going-in potential, but adds some damage and Grievious Wounds for enemy healing. Good to score some kills early.
How it works
- As Tahm Kench playing a Support, your main goal is to soak up damage while protecting your carries.
- You offer excellent crowd control and peel, making it harder for the enemy team to reach your backline.
- Adapt your playstyle depending on your team's needs: either engage and start fights, or sit back and peel for your carries.
- Make sure to counter enemy team. Itemize defensively based on the main damage type of the enemy team.
Playstyle
Identify your role: engage, peel, or frontline.
Soak damage and protect your carries. Use CC and utility to control fights.
Adapt items to counter the enemy team.
How to play
- Identify your role within the team (engage, peel, frontline)
Adaptation
- If your team needs engage, go Trailblazer and Shurelya's Battlesong.
- Your team getting poked to death? Consider getting Redemption AND/OR Locket of the Iron Solari next.
- If your team needs peel, go Knight's Vow and Locket of the Iron Solari.
- Knight's Vow is a surprisingly good item. Buy it and use it if you have carry or bruiser/fighter who is doing well.
- You need to adapt your items to the game. Enemy team heavy on AP? Buy MR. They heavy on AD? Buy Armor. You need some damage? Well buy that.
Buffing your team
- Bandlepipes is a great utility item for engaging and buffing your auto attackers when you CC enemies.
Runes
- Be careful to not waste Aftershock. Try timing it and keeping it for going in.
Tips and Tricks
Champion
Abyssal Dive (W)
- Want to hit Abyssal Dive (W)? Face the other direction to mislead the enemy. They won't expect you using W on them.
- You can cancel your Abyssal Dive (W) with Flash in case of emergency.
- Hit Tongue Lash (Q) for slow or for stun first, then use Abyssal Dive (W) right away for certain hit.
Thick Skin (E)
- If you know you will get alive, don't use Thick Skin (E). Let it heal you instead.
Devour (R)
- Just ate enemy player? Don't spit him out immediately. Wait for your cooldown, your allies and their cooldowns as well. Ping them if needed.
Tahm Kench Combos
- Combo #1: Tongue Lash (Q) + Devour (R) combo. If you have three stacks of your An Acquired Taste (Passive) on your target, you can eat them from a distance. During Tongue Lash (Q) animation use Devour (R).
Riot
- Your most important function as a support is to keep fragile allies safe. Keep Devour's range and cooldown in mind and position accordingly!
- Consider carefully when to use Thick Skin's active. Sometimes shielding early to avoid further damage is good, but sometimes the healing is more beneficial.
