Support Tryndamere build with runes and items. Support Tryndamere guide offers in-depth how-to play, skill order and tips. Play Support Tryndamere build in League of Legends Patch 26.2!
Solid choice in most of the games. Helps against assassins, divers and melee overall. It also lowers your healing output as you do not take Heal. Solid choice overall.
Ignite
Offensive option, improves your damage, gives you additional cooldown to use in fights, but reduces your healing output.
Ghost
Improves mobility. You can chase, position and flee better. Reduces your healing output, but makes you more agile in fights.
How it works
General
You're a healer, Harry.
Even though Tryndamere is not typical support, you are gonna support your team very effectively. With heals, shields and buffs:
Heal summoner spell.
Guardian rune.
Redemption, Locket of the Iron Solari and Moonstone Renewer and other items.
Tryndamere has +35% Healing in ARAM, which makes all healing effects (Redemption or Font of Life included) extra efficient!
Playstyle
Play safe, stay in the back and play like support, so you can stay and heal more. 🛡️
Sometimes, you can go in and play more aggressively when the opportunity is right. ⚔️
Focus on healing and shielding to keep allies alive. 💖
Use Redemption, Locket, and Heal on cooldown for healing. ✨
How to play
General
This is an off-meta and very fun build that works on ANY champion - even those without healing or shielding abilities!
Your job is to stay alive and provide constant healing, shielding, and buffs to your team through items and summoner spells.
Play safe and stay in the back. The longer you survive, the more you can heal your teammates.
Items
Your first rush is Redemption.
Your second rush can be Locket of the Iron Solari (vs AoE burst) or Moonstone Renewer (for sustained healing).
Rush Locket #2 if your team is already doing teamfights or when enemy team has champions with super AoE damage. Otherwise, get Moonstone Renewer #2.
The third item should be whatever you did not buy - Locket of the Iron Solari or Moonstone Renewer. That's your core
Knight's Vow is surprisingly strong if you have a carry/strong bruiser/strong tank. Stick with them and support them specifically.
Summoner Spell
Try to use summoner spell Heal on cooldown, especially when 2+ allies are nearby. With Moonstone Renewer, you want to heal multiple people for maximum value.
Late game
Later in the game (6 items), you can sell boots for a sixth support item to maximize your healing output.
Buffing your team
Ardent Censer is worth it if you have auto attackers on your team (ADCs, auto-attack bruisers). It will trigger often enough to be good buy.
Staff of Flowing Water is great if you have AP champions on your team. You'll be proccing it frequently with your support abilities.
Cryptbloom is interesting if you want to go full healing. Get it as #4+ item.
Runes
Guardian is your most important rune. It provides massive shielding, but remember: you need to be close to your allies to proc it.
You can also manipulate it - for example, you can stick to one ally, or avoid some spells that's gonna only waste it.
Another important rule is Cosmic Insight. It is crucial because it reduces cooldowns for your active items and Heal summoner spell:
Redemption and Locket of the Iron Solari - 81.92 sec cooldown (down from 90 sec).
Shurelya's Battlesong - 68.12 sec cooldown (down from 75 sec).
Heal summoner spell gets reduced cooldown too!
Redemption
Try to use Redemption on cooldown when your allies are missing health. It's best used when they are grouped together.
If you already have Moonstone Renewer, wait (or ping) until allies group before using Redemption, so you can heal everyone at once.
You CAN use Redemption for damage, but generally it's not worth it. Keep it to heal your team!
Be careful when using Redemption while dead and about to respawn. The camera will snap to your position, and you might accidentally cast it in the spawn pool. Watch out for bad timing!
Tips and Tricks
Champion
Bloodlust (Q)
Keep auto attacking whenever you can to generate Fury. It increases your critical strike chance and can be consumed with Bloodlust (Q) for healing and sustain.
Keep Fury high. Avoid spending Q until you really need to heal. It increases your damage/crit and sustain.
If you are getting poked hard and you're having trouble safely hitting minions or champions, just use Bloodlust (Q) on cooldown to heal.
Mocking Shout (W)
You can use Mocking Shout (W) to detect enemies hiding in the bush or even invisible ones that try to sneak on you, your team or your Nexus!
Players tend to instinctively run when you suddenly appear (especially using Spinning Slash (E)) from a bush or fog of war. Use that reaction to your advantage. Use Mocking Shout (W) as they turn away to apply the AoE slow and reduce their attack damage.
Maxing Mocking Shout (W) might be very viable strategy against full AD comps!
Spinning Slash (E)
Tryndamere auto + E trick: when auto attacking, be very close or even go little further. This way you can AA, then Spinning Slash (E) immediately for auto + E dmg.
Spinning Slash (E) + Flash combo. You can use Flash during E animation. To elevate your Tryndamere's game, do it at the very last frame animation. Works in any direction.
Undying Rage (R)
Use R as late as possible. This might bait enemies to use cooldowns and makes you stay in fight for longer. Also beware who you are playing against - sometimes you need to anticipate big burst coming your way and you need to use R early or get one shoted.
Generally, hold Q during ult. If you need to heal afterwards, make sure to use it after your R ends (unless it is specific situation i.e. you are taking dmg from DoTs or there's flying turret's shot right as your R ends).
Riot
Delaying the activation of Undying Rage is a very effective way to make an enemy champion over-commit to trying to kill you.
Bloodlust is an excellent way to heal Tryndamere. Try not to let it fade off before you activate it.
If the enemy is stacking Armor, try building items like Last Whisper or Youmuu's Ghostblade.
