How it works

General

  1. You rush Echoes of Helia.
  2. You play aggressively, getting Echoes of Helia stacks and spending them as soon as you can.
  3. You don't even need Support abilities. You can proc this item consistently with Guardian and Font of Life rune, Heal summoner spell and items.
  4. You adapt to your team's needs: more support, more damage or even more tank.

Playstyle

  1. ⚔️ Play aggressively, deal damage and poke to stack Echoes of Helia.
  2. 💥 Trigger Helia as often as possible with abilities, runes, summoners and items.
  3. 🛡️ Support allies while dealing damage to enemies.

How to play

General

  1. Get Echoes of Helia #1. Then you need to adapt in the game to your team and to the enemy team.
  2. Usual item order: Echoes of Helia -> Moonstone Renewer -> Redemption -> Locket of the Iron Solari then adapt.
  3. Counter enemy team, go more support or go more damage. You can even build some tank items if needed.

Adaptation

  1. Your team needs to engage or position? Get items like Shurelya's Battlesong or Trailblazer.
  2. Your team getting poked to death? Consider getting Redemption AND/OR Locket of the Iron Solari next.
  3. If you are just getting poked and cannot manage to stay alive - get Kaenic Rookern or Warmog's Armor (caution: needs enough HP!)
  4. You have tanks, bruisers and your team lack damage? As a last resort, you can buy few items to even help with that!
  5. Remember to counter an enemy team. For example, if they have lots of healing, get Executioner's Calling early.

Peel

  1. You can be a really good peeler. You have Three Talon Strike (Q) that knocks enemies up, Wind Becomes Lightning (W) that slows, and Crescent Guard (R) that knocks enemies away.
  2. For Crescent Guard (R) knock back, make sure that you don't auto attack the enemy first, so they won’t be Challenged and can actually be knocked back.
  3. You can anti-engage. Enemy going ham? Stay close to your team and use Crescent Guard (R) to push them away if they dive in.

Engage

  1. Your Audacious Charge (E) lets you quickly jump onto enemies to start fights or peel divers off your carries.

Utility

  1. Your Wind Becomes Lightning (W) provides vision and slow in a cone, which can help zone enemies away from objectives.
  2. You can use Crescent Guard (R) to split fights, isolating the enemy front line from their back line.

Tips and Tricks

Champion

  1. Always keep auto attacking - this gives you great sustain, especially early on.
  2. When you stacked your Determination (Passive), you can use it with your Wind Becomes Lightning (W) for extra damage and poke.

Three Talon Strike (Q)

  1. Three Talon Strike (Q) resets your auto attack. So proper use is: auto attack first, then use Q for reset and immediate next auto.
  2. Always count your Three Talon Strike (Q) attacks. You can attack minions twice, then Audacious Charge (E) (combined with Flash) and knock unsuspecting enemies up!

Xin Zhao Combos

  1. Combo #1: You can cast Wind Becomes Lightning (W) and Flash. It works forward/backward and sideways. This lets you get some cool kills.
  2. Combo #2: You can cast Wind Becomes Lightning (W), Flash then use Audacious Charge (E) to reach. That's a super cool combo that lets you catch people off guard and engage from miles away.
  3. Combo #3: You can cast Crescent Guard (R), then Flash. This way you do some surprise damage, or even throw enemies into your team if used properly (keep track of who is Challenged!)
  4. Combo #4: Prepare your Three Talon Strike (Q) to have knock up ready, then you can Flash into an enemy team, use Crescent Guard (R) to knock everyone back and immediately knock your target up to keep him in place. You can follow up with Audacious Charge (E) and Flash if needed.
  5. Combo #5: You can Audacious Charge (E) to a minion + Wind Becomes Lightning (W) during dash animation for surprise hits. This is especially cool, when your build revolves around W (Lethality, Crit, AP builds)

Riot

  1. Xin Zhao is a great initiator to combat. Lead the front to start a fight and use your ultimate to do the most damage possible.
  2. Try to position yourself so your ultimate's knockback is most effective.
